After you have created a template, you can use the following to increase your efficiency -

1. Wherever possible, map a template to a presenting issue. Use this presenting issue to pull right Encounter template, diagnosis, prescription. 

2. While inserting instant variables, you can control formatting of the document right there, instead of adding line-break or typing text.
For example: All the instant variables highlighted below, show up in one row. 

These can be configured to move to a new row, if required by adding <br> before the prefix - 

If these variables are filled up, you will see the document as follows - 

If these variables are left empty, while creating a PDF, these take up a single blank line. 

3. You can apply multiple templates in the same encounter. Just select the template icon as shown below, and keep adding required templates.

4. You can update a patient data field from encounter, without any text showing up in your note. You can set it up by configuring the "Visible Data" section, as shown below.
