Receiving and replying to messages from a pharmacy
Updated over a month ago

📌Note: This is currently a beta feature, available to a few CHR beta users to test and provide feedback. It will be available to more users once the beta period is complete.

Messages to pharmacies are sent and received in a similar manner as your internal CHR messages. The CHR checks for new messages from pharmacies every 5 minutes.

When you receive a message from a pharmacy, the CHR attempts to automatically match the patient. If it can't find a match, you can manually assign the patient, or mark the message as not intended for one of your patients.

Steps

1. Open the message in your inbox. Messages from pharmacies have the subject PrescribeIT Pharmacy Communication.

2. You can see the pharmacy the message is from, as well as the category and subject. Like messages you send to pharmacies, the patient and medication or prescription are attached. If the message is a response to your message, you can see the entire message thread.

💡 Tip: Click the patient's name to open their chart. Click the medication to open the prescription.

3. If the patient cannot be uniquely matched to a patient in the CHR, the message shows Unknown Patient.

💡 Tip: Hover your cursor over the i icon beside the patient name to see the demographic information sent by the pharmacy.

a) Click Match patient. When one or more patients are detected, the CHR suggests possible patient matches and includes a confidence rating. For more information about how patients are matched, refer to CHR AI-powered: Patient matching for incoming documents.

💡 Tip: Hover over the confidence rating to see what criteria the patient was matched on.

b) Select the correct patient from the list. If the correct patient is not shown in the list of suggested matches, you can manually search for the patient. If the patient is a new patient, click the icon to create a new patient.

c) Click Apply. The message is now linked to that patient and any future messages about that patient will be automatically matched.

📌 Note: If the message is for a patient that is not your patient, for example, if the message was sent to the wrong clinic, click Not my patient. The message is marked as done and the pharmacy is notified of your response.

4. Once the patient is matched, type your reply in the Message body and add any attachments. If the original message contained attachments other than a medication or prescription, you can Include original attachments in your reply.

5. Click Send.
