You can enable a clinic-wide setting that prevents unintentional modifications or deleting a signed letter.
By default, anyone can edit or delete a signed letter in a patient's chart. This is useful if you have staff members who edit letters before sending them. Also, when anyone generates a PDF of the letter to print/fax/email it, the signature of the provider who created the letter is automatically included.
Enable this setting to require users to manually sign the letter in order to lock it and before you can generate a signed PDF to print, fax, or email. The signature of the person who signed the letter is included on the PDF. Only users who have the Unlock referral letters permission can unlock a signed letter and make changes to it or delete it (refer to Unlocking a signed encounter or letter).
📌 Note: You must have the Referral settings permission to update this setting.
Steps
1. From the main menu, choose Settings > Referral.
2. In the Letter Editing section at the bottom of the General tab, select Yes to prevent edits to signed letters.
3. Click Save Referral Settings.
