Improvements
Unified patient search interface across the CHR
📌Note: TELUS Health must manually enable this feature following the release. To ensure a smooth transition, this feature will gradually be made available over the next several weeks.
As part of our ongoing usability and design improvements, the Patient Search window first introduced in the Inbox and Patients, is expanded to Schedules, Pathways, Lab Results, and Campaigns.
This update provides a consistent search experience across these key areas of the CHR, enhancing overall usability and efficiency.
Updated interface when creating group visit templates
When you create or edit a group visit template, the interface in the Group Visit Templates section of Settings > Scheduling > Appointment Type presents an updated design.
The General tab now includes the Extra Information for the Patient field previously found in the Description tab.
For clinics using eBooking, Allow eBooking is now a toggle.
Your existing group visit templates remain unchanged and automatically display in the new interface.
Recording date and time for vitals and measurements
The Vitals window now features a dedicated Date field. In this new field you can document actual measurement dates and times, even when entering them after the fact. This functionality was previously limited to the encounter vitals table.
To maintain data integrity, you cannot enter future dates ensuring that your records accurately reflect when measurements were taken.
Redesigned inbox: Snoozing an inbox item until the patient's next appointment
You can now snooze patient-related inbox items until the patient’s next appointment date, streamlining follow-up management. When an inbox item is linked to a patient, the Snooze until list displays the patient's next appointment date at the top. This works for all patient-related items, including files, faxes, labs, and messages, eliminating the need to manually search for and enter appointment dates.
Enhanced patient file search capabilities
In the Patient Files section, you can now use multiple words or phrases to find exactly what you need. The search understands variations in spelling and partial matches, similar to how the patient search works.
Adding goals of care from the patient summary
You can now document patient care goals more quickly without navigating away from the patient summary.
In the Goals of Care section header, when you click the new plus icon, the Goals of Care window opens directly within the summary view and you can document new goals.
Tali-AI: Improved generated encounter notes
When you generate notes using Tali AI and click Send to EMR, the CHR omits unnecessary line spacing during the import process. Your encounter notes maintain a consistent structure, improving readability.
For more information, refer to Using Tali AI to write encounter notes.
PrescribeIT®: Viewing pharmacy communication attachments as PDFs
📌Note: PrescribeIT® is currently available only for a select few TELUS CHR users. It will be more widely available in the future.
The CHR now opens all PrescribeIT® pharmacy communication attachments directly in the built-in PDF viewer, streamlining your document review process.
For messages with linked patients, the patient information appears at the top and you can click the save icon to add the attachment to the patient’s files from the PDF viewer.
📌Note: The save icon is only visible once a patient is matched to the message.
New Brunswick: Medicare number validation
There are now stricter validation rules in place when you add or update a patient's Medicare identification number. When you enter the number, the CHR verifies the correct number of digits, ensures no letters or special characters are present, and that the ninth digit is correct. If you enter an invalid number, an "Identification value is invalid" message appears and you must enter a valid Medicare number to save the patient’s information.
Ontario: Warning indicator for unmatched Ocean eReferrals
For clinics using Ocean referral, the redesigned inbox now clearly identifies unmatched Ocean eReferrals with a yellow "Unmatched" warning icon under the patient's name. The icon disappears automatically when you match the referral to a patient record, helping you manage incoming referrals.
Ontario: Adding report subclass information to patient files
To ensure proper document classification, you can now add more detail to uploaded files using the new Report Subclass field. When you add a file to the patient chart, this field appears in the Additional Fields section of the Upload File window.
📌Note: For Ontario Health Report Manager (HRM) documents, the correct subclass information automatically appears as a read-only field; no action is required.
Fixes
From an unsigned encounter, when you open a file in the patient summary and make annotations, the system now saves the updated file without needing to refresh the page.
When sorting by Service in a patient's Appointments list, group visit appointments are now sorted alphabetically alongside the other appointment types.
In the Patient Data section, the window is no longer blank after selecting None in a data template's single-select field and then reopening the window.
When you generate a PDF, the system now automatically retries if there is a temporary network issue that prevented the PDF generation.
If your Patient name display preference is set to Prefix First name “Preferred name” Middle name Last name, the prefix RtHon (Right Honorable) now appears accurately throughout the CHR.
In the Referrals dashboard, filtering the list of referrals by Referral data (such as appointment dates and patient notification status) now returns accurate results.
In a Qnaire when a Form question is marked as required and has no pre-filled data, patients can no longer proceed to the next question if they have not answered the question.
When you record immunizations and injections, the Dose and dose unit fields are now properly aligned.
The list of injections is now in alphabetical order when recording an injection in a patient's chart and in Settings > Injections.
When replying to an existing conversation, marking the message as urgent after sending now updates the urgent status immediately in both the recipient's and sender's inboxes.
When sharing a message with an attachment with other users and you select Unsubscribe from this conversation, you no longer remain subscribed to the message thread.
In the redesigned Inbox,
- When you search for a patient from an unassigned lab result the search window now opens in front of the lab result.
- The blue text in the Date column indicating a snoozed message has returned to the Active list now appears on a single line, improving readability and maintaining a consistent layout.
- The calendar automatically closes after selecting a date or date range in the Date filter.
- When you save an inbox View and set it as the default, the Default label now persists when hovering over the view options in the dropdown. For clinics using the CHR AI-powered inbox, as the day progresses, when processing and matching documents to patient charts, we've improved system performance, therefore reducing the need to refresh the page frequently.
Ontario: Health card validation now occurs immediately after entering a new patient's health number, rather than only after saving the new patient information.
Alberta: You can no longer change a provider’s Business Arrangement (BA) number or billing number once a claim has been assessed and paid by the Ministry. Additionally, these details cannot be edited for payments with multiple fee items unless all items are refused.
New Brunswick: When you change a bill's status to Ready to Submit, it now immediately updates to Submitted and you can therefore no longer edit the bill.
📌 Note: New CHR versions are released on a regular bi-weekly schedule. However, there are times where a fix is released prior to the next scheduled release. These off-schedule release fixes are documented in the separate off-schedule release notes.
