The Address Book Hygiene Support dashboard helps you maintain organized and accurate Contacts. The dashboard identifies duplicate entries and includes the contact details as well as how many patients have a duplicate pharmacy set as their preferred pharmacy. You can use this information to prioritize and clean up duplicate entries.

Duplicate Facilities by Fax - Pharmacy Category report
This report provides a list of facilities in your local address book that have duplicate fax numbers and is sorted by fax number so that the duplicates are grouped together. It includes the facility details such as address, city, and the type of facility. The total number of patients who have that pharmacy set as their Preferred Pharmacy is listed in the Number Preferred Patients column, and you can reference the corresponding patient IDs in the next column.
Cleaning up duplicate entries
Determine which facility to keep. Click the facility ID to open the facility in your Contacts and add any information that is missing or correct wrong information.
💡Tip: Because you’ll often have contacts with the same fax number that are not duplicates (such as multiple providers from the same office), we recommend assigning a Type to the contact. You can then use the Category column in this report to help easily identify true duplicates.Reassign patient preferred pharmacies. For any pharmacies that you plan to delete that are assigned as a patient’s preferred pharmacy, click the Number Preferred Patients to see a list of patient IDs and open the chart. From there, reassign the preferred pharmacy to the one you are keeping. Alternatively, you can reassign the preferred pharmacy the next time you see the patient.
Delete the duplicate facilities. Click the facility ID to open the facility in your Contacts and click the trash can icon to delete it.
Reload the dashboard occasionally to update the report with your changes.
If you have a large number of duplicates, TELUS Health can assist with cleanup by performing the following mass actions:
Update the contact type to pharmacy if it contains "pharmacy", "drug", "Walmart", or "SDM" in the name.
Delete a duplicate contact if:
The type is set to pharmacy, and
Province and fax number match another pharmacy, and
No patients have this pharmacy set as their preferred pharmacy.
Merge a duplicate contact if:
The type is set to pharmacy, and
Province and fax number match another pharmacy, and
Patients have the pharmacy set as their preferred pharmacy.
4. Delete duplicate contacts again (#2) after merging duplicates (#3). (This will remove contacts that no longer have patients with it set as their preferred pharmacy.)
