PrescribeIT® service termination

Following Canada Health Infoway's email on February 11th, 2026, the PrescribeIT® operated service will conclude on May 29th, 2026. To ensure a smooth transition, we are deactivating your CHR's connection to the PrescribeIT® service in advance of the planned end date.

CHR deactivation schedule

The last day of PrescribeIT® service for your CHR will be May 15th, 2026.

What to expect during the wind-down phase

1. Pharmacy address book updates: As pharmacies deactivate across your network, you may see error messages when sending prescriptions or messages through PrescribeIT®.

What to do:

  • If you encounter an error saying a pharmacy isn't active, print or fax that prescription instead.

  • Manually update your address book by removing the PrescribeIT® ID from pharmacy contacts so they no longer display as PrescribeIT® enabled. (Not applicable for users in PEI).

  • Consider notifying your frequently-used pharmacies about the deactivation schedule to minimize confusion.

2. eFax service – plan ahead: Since PrescribeIT® won't be available for sending e-prescriptions, now is a good time to review your eFax options:

  • Already using TELUS Health eFax? Check your current package and usage on your latest invoice.

  • Need to add eFax service or adjust your package? Reach out to our Sales team at emrsales@telus.com

📌 Note: This is not applicable for users in PEI.

3. Controlled substance prescriptions: Depending on your province, you may need to order triplicate pads for controlled substances. Check your jurisdictional requirements and plan accordingly.

4. Respond to pending requests: Before deactivation, please respond to any outstanding clinical communications. After your deactivation date, these will need to be handled via print or fax.

Your data is safe

Rest assured that all your historical data and medication transactions sent and received through PrescribeIT® will remain in your CHR. Pharmacies can continue dispensing based on prescriptions they've already received, though future dispense notifications will no longer be available.
