Configuring encounter agent run settings

Encounter AI agents can be configured to run automatically or manually, depending on your clinic's needs.

📌 Note: Configuring agents requires the CHR AI-Powered Tool Management permission. Only clinic administrators with this permission can modify agent settings.

Steps

  1. Navigate to Settings > AI-Powered Features > AI features.

  2. In the Patient chart section, review the list of available agents. By default, all agents are set to manual mode. The agent runs only when a provider clicks the Run agents button.
📌 Note: Agents outside your clinic's plan are not listed and cannot be configured.

3. Under Automate, set the toggle to On for a specific agent.

4. Once active, the agent generates suggestions automatically after a provider enters a note in the History, Examination, or Assessment and Plan sections and moves to a different section of the encounter.

💡 Tip: Common clinic run configurations can include:

  • Billing codes is set to automatic to help improve claim accuracy.

  • Family History & Social History are typically set to manual in order to reduce token usage and AI processing costs.

  • Referral Letter is typically set to manual to give providers greater control over the generated content.

  • The configuration for Tasks varies based on the specific clinic workflow.
