Configuring encounter agents run settings

Encounter AI agents (Family History, Social History, Referral Letter, Tasks, Billing Codes, and Post Visit Summary) can be configured to run automatically or manually, depending on your clinic's needs.

📌 Note: Configuring agents requires the CHR AI-Powered Tool Management permission. Only clinic administrators with this permission can modify agent settings.

Steps

  1. Navigate to Settings > AI-Powered Features > AI features.

  2. In the Patient chart section, review the list of available agents. By default, all agents are set to manual mode. The agent runs only when a provider clicks the Run agents button.
📌 Note: Agents outside your clinic's plan are not listed and cannot be configured.

3. To enable automatic agent runs, beside Automate, click the toggle to enable it. The agent generates suggestions automatically when a provider leaves a note in the History, Examination, or Assessment and Plan sections and moves to a different section, or when an Ambient Scribe note is added to the encounter.

💡 Tip: Common clinic configurations include :

  • Billing codes is typically set to automatic (helps with claim accuracy)

  • Family History & Social History are typically set to manual (reduces token usage and AI processing costs)

  • Referral Letter is typically set to manual (gives you control over content)

  • Tasks configuration varies by clinic workflow

  • Post Visit Summary is typically set to manual (requires providers to manually review note quality first
