Personal pronouns are used to replace the name of a person. The TELUS Collaborative Health Record (CHR), has a Preferred Pronoun variable that is used in many types of communications, such as appointment notifications or letter templates. For more information, see Adding data variables to letter, message and encounter templates.
The Preferred Pronoun variable is linked with the patient's Gender Identity or Sex if no gender identity is set. You can also manually set the preferred pronoun if it does not match the presets mapped in the CHR. You must set this correctly so that you do not misgender a patient in your communications.
The following chart shows what pronouns are linked with Gender Identity or Sex in Patient Demographics. From the dashboard view in the patient's chart, click Update Information.
