Updating your contacts from the Healthcare Directory
Updated this week

The Healthcare Directory is a cloud-based address book of pan-Canadian healthcare contacts. The directory contains physicians and facilities such as pharmacies, labs, and diagnostic imaging facilities.

When you search for a contact in the CHR, you can select one from the Healthcare Directory without adding it to your local Contacts list. However, if you later open the contact and edit it (such as updating the fax number), you are prompted to add the contact to your local Contacts list. For more information, refer to Searching for contacts from the Healthcare Directory.

If you added a contact from the Healthcare Directory to your local contacts and there is an update to that contact in the Healthcare Directory, you are notified and can choose to update your local contact.

📌 Note: The list of physicians is updated quarterly, and pharmacies, labs, and diagnostic imaging facilities are updated annually.

Steps

1. Search for a contact in the CHR. If a local contact that was originally imported from the Healthcare Directory has been updated in the Healthcare Directory, a Review button appears.

2. Click Review to see the changes. The information from the Healthcare Directory is displayed on the left and the information from the contact in the CHR is displayed on the right.

3. By default, all listed fields will be updated in your CHR. Clear the checkbox for any field that you do not want to update in your CHR.

💡 Tip: Click Skip this update if you don't want to update the contact in your CHR. The Review button is removed and will not reappear until there is another Healthcare Directory update for that contact.

4. Click Update. The contact in your local contacts list is updated with the selected information from the Healthcare Directory and you no longer see the Review button.

📌 Note: If you click Close, the Review button continues to appear until you either update the contact or skip the update.
