You can book an appointment for a patient from their chart, without switching to the Schedules section of the CHR. This is useful when you are seeing a patient and want to book a follow-up appointment, for example. You can stay within the context of the patient chart and book an appointment from the Summary view or from the patient's Appointments list.
Steps
1. To book from the patient's Appointments list, click Start/Open > Appointments > +New Appointment.
Or, to book from the patient summary, open Summary view and click + in the Appointments section of the summary.
💡 Tip: Refer to Customizing the patient summary if the Appointments section is not included in your summary view.
2. The schedule opens in a floating window, in week view, and with the same filters you currently have applied in Schedules. Use the calendar icon at the top-right to navigate to the date you want to book the appointment, and click the time on the schedule to book the appointment.
3. The patient's name is automatically populated for you in the appointment booking window. Complete the appointment details as described in Booking appointments and click Save when you are done.
📌 Note: If you book a group visit, the patient information is not automatically populated; you must add the patient in the Patients tab of the group visit.
The floating schedule window automatically closes and the appointment is included in the patient's Appointments list and Summary view.
