Setting up signing authority for medical directives
Updated yesterday

If your clinic has medical directives in place, you can set up which providers an authorized user can sign on behalf of. If you are working under a medical directive, you can select a default provider to sign on behalf of.

For more information, refer to Prescribing under medical directive.

Once you set up which providers a user can sign on behalf of, when creating a prescription the user can select the appropriate provider and the prescription indicates they are working under the medical directive of that provider.

Steps to set who a user can sign on behalf of

📌 Note: To perform this action, you must have the Edit Other Users permission (go to User permission options).

  1. From the main menu, click Settings > Account information. The User Management window opens.

  2. In the Active members list, click Edit (pencil icon) beside the user who you want to grant signing authority. The user's settings window opens to the General tab.

  3. Click in the Signing Authority/Working Under Medical Directive field to find and select providers, or select providers from the list. The number of selected supervising providers shows on the right.

  4. To remove a provider, click the X beside their name or, to remove all providers, click the X beside the number of supervising providers.

  5. Click Submit.

Steps to set your default supervising provider

  1. From the main menu, click Settings > Personal information > Preferences.

  2. Under the Working under Medical Directive - Signing Authority section, select a provider from the list. Only providers for whom you have signing permission appear.

💡 Tip: You can select a different provider in the prescription.
