Closing conversations

Updated this week

When all users finish the work related to an internal or patient message, you can close the conversation to mark it as Done for all users at once. This helps you organize your Inbox and the Messages section of the patient chart. Once a conversation is closed, you can no longer reply to the message. Closing the conversation also changes its status to Closed, unlike marking it as Done.

If you sent a message to a patient and selected Allow patient to respond in this conversation, closing the conversation also removes the ability for the patient to respond. Always close the conversation when you finish the specific communication as a best practice.

⚠️ Important: This action is irreversible.

Steps

  1. Open the conversation from the Inbox, or the Messages section of the patient’s chart.

  2. In the message window, click Close Conversation.

📌 Note: If you are the last person to Mark done an inbox item, a notification appears to let you know. You can select Close Conversation or only Mark Done directly in the confirmation window.

  3. When prompted, click Okay.

The conversation is marked as Done for all users, and the status changes to Closed.

In the message window, a message shows who closed the conversation and the time they closed it.
