Configuring file tags

Set up custom file tags to categorize patient files for quick access

Updated over a year ago

Create file tags to properly categorize and organize documents or files that are uploaded to patient charts.

Default tags are included in TELUS Collaborative Health Record (CHR). They are hard-coded in the CHR and you cannot edit or delete them. Examples of the default tags are Consult, Medical Imaging, Referral, Lab, Form. You can create your own additional tags to customize how you organize files.

When you upload a file to a patient chart, you are prompted to assign a tag to the file. Each tag appears as tab within the Patient Files section of the patient chart. For more information, visit Uploading patient files and Viewing and modifying file tags.

Avoid creating too many tags because this increases the number of tabs in the patient chart and makes it more difficult to find documents. We also recommend keeping file tags generic, such as "diagnostic imaging" or "DI" instead of "MRI", "X-ray", and "CT Scan".

📌 Note: You must have Patient Settings permissions to configure file tags.

Steps

1. From the main menu, click Settings > Patient File.

File tags appear in yellow boxes. Default tags are hard-coded in the CHR and you cannot edit or delete these and a warning message displays.

📌 Note: To archive or restore a file tag, hover your cursor over the tag and click Archive or Restore.

2. To add a new tag, click +New Tag, type the name for the tag, and click Save

3. To delete a tag, hover your cursor over an archived tag and click the trashcan

that appears.

📌 Note: Deleted tags are deleted permanently.
