Create file tags to properly categorize and organize documents or files that are uploaded to patient charts. Default tags (that you cannot edit or delete) are included in the TELUS Collaborative Health Record (CHR). You can create your own additional tags to customize how you organize files.

When you upload a file to a patient chart, you are prompted to assign a tag to the file. Each tag appears as tab within the Patient Files section of the patient chart. For more information, see Uploading patient files and Viewing and modifying file tags.

Avoid creating too many tags because this increases the number of tabs in the patient chart and makes it more difficult to find documents. We also recommend keeping file tags generic, such as "diagnostic imaging" or "DI" instead of "MRI", "X-ray", and "CT Scan".

⚠️ Important: Do not delete file tags that are in use. If you delete a file tag, it is removed from all patient documents that are associated to the tag and the documents will become uncategorized (appears in the All tab of the Patient Files section of the patient chart).

Steps

1. On the CHR main toolbar, click Settings > Patient File.

Existing file tags appear in yellow boxes. Tags that have a lock icon are hard-coded in the CHR and you cannot edit or delete these.

2. To add a new tag, click Add New Tag, type the name for the tag, and click Save

3. To delete a tag, hover your cursor over the tag and click the X that appears.

📌 Note: The deleted tags remain in historical patient files in the CHR if they were used.
