Configuring default Teleplan billing settings (British Columbia)

Medical claims are submitted for payment electronically through the Medical Services Plan (MSP) Teleplan integration. If you are a new CHR user, the TELUS Health team will set up the integration for your clinic.

You can then configure a few settings yourself, such as adding multiple payee numbers, service location code, facility number, and rural retention code. These become your defaults on bills, streamlining your billing workflow and avoiding repetitive selections when creating bills.

📌 Note: You need the Billing Settings permission to configure these defaults.

Steps

1. From the main menu, click Settings > Billing.

2. Under Public Billing Providers, beside Teleplan, click the pencil icon.

A new window appears where you can configure the fields described below.

Field

Description

Payee Number

You can add up to five already integrated payee numbers for your Teleplan billing setup. This is useful for locums, providers working across multiple clinics, or providers who submit claims under different payee numbers. When creating a bill, you can select from your configured payee numbers.

Type the payee numbers separated by commas. The first payee number in the list displays by default on your bill.

📌 Note: Before adding a payee number, contact the TELUS Health support team through the support chat to ensure it's set up.

Service Location

Set your default service location for medical claims submission. Select the appropriate service location from the list.

Facility Number

Set your clinic's facility number to display on your bills by default.

This is useful, for example, if you are eligible for the Business Cost Premium (BCP), Population-based funding (PBF), or the Longitudinal Family Physician (LFP) Payment Model.

Type your facility number.

Rural Retention Code

Set your rural retention code to display on your bills by default if your clinic is located in a rural region and you're entitled to the rural retention benefit.

Select your clinic's rural retention code (area) from the list.

3. If you work out of multiple clinic locations that share the same CHR system, you can set default values for specific locations:

a. Under Additional Settings By Location, click the specific clinic location.

b. Configure the fields as needed for that location.

4. Click Authenticate to save your configuration.
