CHR Release notes - version 26.18

Improvements

TELUS Health Connect: Notifying patients with a balance due

If your clinic is using TELUS Health Connect or Stripe, you can now automatically notify patients when they have an outstanding balance on their account. This helps your clinic follow up on unpaid bills without manual outreach, improving payment collection and reducing administrative effort.

To enable this feature, go to Settings > Billing > Outstanding Bill Notification, and set how many days after the bill's due date the outstanding bill notification is sent to the patient (1–30 days). By default, Do not send notification is selected.

You can customize the new Outstanding Bill notification template from Settings > Notifications > Billing. If you have Stripe enabled, the notification also contains a payment link.

Removing auto-generated diagnosis text from letters

When creating a letter from an encounter and inserting the encounter note, the CHR no longer adds the diagnosis codes selected in the Assessment and Plan section. The auto-generated statement "The patient was diagnosed with: [diagnosis 1], [diagnosis 2], etc." did not always reflect the intended tone and audience; with this change, you have full control over how diagnostic information is presented in your letters.

Improving duplicate patient detection accuracy

Duplicate patient detection now checks all patient identifications, not just the primary one, reducing the chance of low match scores and missed duplicate alerts. Both the identification type and value must also align; identifications with different types are no longer considered a match, making duplicate detection more precise.

Fixes

  • In the patient chart header, the navigation Menu, the More actions menu and the Flowsheets list now appear in front of any currently open window, such as the file viewer, so you can access options without closing the window first.

  • When billing codes from a private or third-party billing template, in the generated PDF invoice, the unit price now displays the full amount for values greater than three digits; previously, the amount was truncated at the comma (e.g. $1,000.00 is no longer truncated to $1.00).

  • We have added additional validations in Qnaires to prevent patients from submitting Qnaires with unanswered required questions.

  • Multiple issues have been corrected for clinics using the redesigned letter editor:

    • The Letter Title field updates with the template name when you apply a letter template, even if the field already contains text.

    • When generating a letter from an encounter, and adding the encounter note to the letter or applying a template, the cursor no longer jumps unexpectedly when pressing the Backspace {delete} or Enter {Return} key.

    • The patient's family doctor appears as a suggested recipient when you click in the Recipient field.

  • Manitoba: You can no longer delete a fee item that has been submitted to Manitoba Health. Previously, deleted billing items were incorrectly restored as duplicates.

  • Alberta: When creating or editing a billing template, the Referring Practitioner checkbox in a fee item now saves correctly and remains selected after you save the template.

📌 Note: New CHR versions are released on a regular bi-weekly schedule. However, there are times where a fix is released prior to the next scheduled release. These off-schedule release fixes are documented in the separate off-schedule release notes.
