Track a child's development with a growth chart

Updated over a month ago

In the TELUS Collaborative Health Record (CHR), you can use growth charts to graph and compare data for children's height, weight, head circumference (0-2 years), and body mass index (2-19 years) against children of the same age. This enables you to track a child's growth and development as time progresses.

You can view and update growth charts from the patient dashboard's Growth Chart widget.

For example, below is a growth chart for an average child from 2 - 5 years of age.

From here you can also view the chart as a graph, using the WHO growth charts for Canada.

You can also view the height/weight chart as a graph in the Examination section of encounter notes.

You can save the growth chart graph as a PDF to Patient Files. For more information, refer to Using growth charts.

📌 Note: Any data point saved in the growth chart that is more recent than the latest Patient Data > Vitals entry is automatically saved in the Patient Data section of the patient’s chart and the encounter’s vital table.

Also, when you add height and weight measurements to the vitals table in an encounter and save it, the CHR automatically updates the patient’s growth chart.

When deleting or editing data in a patient’s growth chart, these actions are also reflected in the vitals table of saved or signed encounters.
