Changing your default billing status
Updated over a week ago

📌 Note: The default billing status is user-specific.

When you create an insured billing item, the default billing status can either be Draft or Ready.

A Draft status means that when you create a bill, you need to manually change the status to Ready To Submit so that it can be submitted to your provincial billing provider.

A Ready status means when you create a bill it is automatically submitted to your provincial billing provider.

The default billing status for any outgoing insured bills in your CHR account is Draft.

Steps

  1. From a patient chart, click Start/Open > Insured Billing.

  2. Click the gear icon in the top right corner (next to +New Payment).

  3. Under Default Status, select Draft or Ready.

💡 Tip: If you create bills on behalf of providers at your clinic, you can select Always use billing practitioner's default billing status. This ensures that you use the correct default billing status for each provider.

For example, Dr. Smith wants to check all his bills before submitting them (Draft status), Dr. Jones wants you to submit them automatically (Ready status).

  4. Click Save.

  5. Refresh your browser to apply the saved changes.

📌 Note: Alternatively, if you have the Billing Settings permission you can also set your default billing status in Settings. From the main menu, click Settings > Billing. Under Public Billing Settings, select Ready or Draft.
