TELUS Collaborative Health Record (CHR) has a fully integrated Drug Interaction Checker which is provided and powered by the leading Canadian company, Vigilance Santé.

InputHealth has partnered with Vigilance Santé to provide:

  • Drug Interaction Checking within the prescription module of InputHealth

  • Access to more features within the Vigilance Santé portal via a direct link from InputHealth

Enabling the Vigilance Santé Database

Your clinic account administrator can select which drug database the clinic would like to use by navigating to Settings --> Prescriptions. Select the Drug Database from the Medication List dropdown menu:

  • Vigilance Santé - provides the most up-to-date Health Canada database. It is updated in real-time

Customizing Drug Interaction Alerts

The Drug Interaction Checker reports on drug Interactions based on their level of severity:

Like most features within the CHR, you can customize the behaviour of the alerts according to your preference.

  • It is possible to customize how interaction alerts appear within InputHealth on a per user basis

  • It is also possible to set an account alert threshold, this can only be set up by the account owner. Once the Account Threshold is set-up other users can chose the "Account Default" alert display type

Customizing alerts is done from the prescription / medication screen within the CHR. Navigate to the gear icon in the ALERTS section

My Alert Threshold: allows users to customize what interaction alert types they see within InputHealth by default

Account Threshold: allows the account owner to customize what what interaction alert types they want to be displayed as the account default

1. My Alert Threshold - allows users to customize what interaction alert types they see by default. This can be configured by the user:

  • Account Default - default settings to all

  • Show All Alerts - shows all interaction alerts

  • Critical (Highest) - shows only the critical alerts (level 1 alerts are shown)

  • Warning - shows all warning (level2) and critical alerts (level 3 is not shown)

2. Account Threshold - allows the account owner to customize what interaction alert types they want displayed as the account default. This can only be configured by the account administrator (however, settings can still be overridden by a user)

  • Show All Alerts - default setting

  • Critical (Highest) - shows only the critical alerts

  • Warning - shows all warning and critical alerts (lowest alert level is not shown)

When certain alerts are "filtered out/ hidden" the user is informed with a message: "Not All Alerts Are Visible".

  • It is possible to see which severity level(s) have been hidden (eye icon with strike-through)

  • It is possible to se the "hidden" alerts by clicking on the eye icon.
