Appointment actions are available to use at the time of booking or at a later date. For example, from the appointment, you can view and update patient demographics, open a patient's chart, and start an encounter. These actions are available only for patient appointments.
💡 Tip: You can also quickly access the patient's demographic information without opening the appointment. Hover your cursor over the patient's name in the schedule to view additional demographic information such as their full name, preferred pharmacy and status tags at a glance. You can click their name in the pop-up to open their chart.
Click the appointment to open it and then choose the action:
Action | Description |
Quick View | Hover your cursor over the patient's information to see their cell phone number, email address, primary practitioner (PR), and referring practitioner (RP). If you need to make any changes to the patient demographics, click Quick View to open the Update Patient window without leaving the schedule, and save any changes.
📌 Note: The Referring Practitioner (RP) saved to an appointment does not change if it is updated in the patient chart after creating the appointment. |
Open Chart | Opens the patient chart. |
Encounter | Opens the patient chart and starts a new encounter.
The encounter will be linked to the appointment, and the appointment status automatically updates to Being Seen. When the encounter is signed off the appointment status automatically updates to Note signed. |
