Appointment actions are available to use at the time of booking or at a later date. For example, from the appointment, you can view and update patient demographics, open a patient's chart, and start an encounter. These actions are available only for patient appointments.
The patient’s name shows in your preferred format. For more patient information, hover over the name to see a demographics snapshot. If there is a referring practitioner, or the patient is assigned to a panel (Alberta), these are displayed below the name.
To change the patient, click the pencil icon beside the name.
Click the patient’s name either in the appointment window or in the demographics snapshot to open the chart.
💡 Tip: You can also quickly access the patient's demographic information without opening the appointment. Hover your cursor over the coloured bar at the left of the booked appointment to view additional demographic information such as their full name, gender information and status tags at a glance. You can click their name in the pop-up to open their chart.
Click the appointment to open it and then choose the action:
Action | Description |
Update patient info | Hover your cursor over the patient's name to see a demographic snapshot. There you see information such as their cell phone number, email address, and primary practitioner.
If you need to make any changes to their demographics, click the Update patient info button to open the Update Patient window without leaving the schedule, and save any changes.
📌 Note: The Referring Practitioner (RP) saved to an appointment does not change if it is updated in the patient chart after creating the appointment. |
Encounter | Opens the patient chart and starts a new encounter.
The encounter will be linked to the appointment, and the appointment status automatically updates to Being Seen. When the encounter is signed off the appointment status automatically updates to Note signed. |
