You can configure the TELUS Collaborative Health Record (CHR) to display a default avatar in patient charts if you have not uploaded a patient photo. You can choose to display the following default gender-specific avatars (based on the patient's gender identity/sex) or a universal avatar.
Avatar | Gender identity | Sex |
Female, Transgender female | Female
Male, Transgender male | Male
Non-binary, Prefer to describe | Other |
📌 Note:
You can replace these default avatars with your own icon or image or with a photo of your patients. See Updating patient avatars.
Patients can update their own avatars via a Qnaire. See Creating a picture question type in your Qnaire.
Steps
1. From the main menu, click Settings > Patient.
2. Under Additional Settings, scroll to Default Avatar and select one the following options:
Option | Action |
Gender based avatar | If no image is uploaded, a patient's default avatar is based on the patient's gender identity as shown above. If the gender identity is not selected, it is based on the selected sex.
📌 Note: If their sex and gender identity are different, the avatar selected is based on the patient's gender identity. |
Universal avatar | If no image is uploaded, all patients are assigned the gender-neutral avatar. |
