Prescribing your favourite medications
Updated over a week ago

Once you save prescriptions to your favourite list (see Saving your favourite medications), you can quickly create a prescription by selecting a medication from your list of favourite medications. You can choose from your favourite medications list before starting a prescription, or while creating a prescription.

In the prescription writer, when you search for a medication to prescribe any matching favourite medications display at the top of the search results with a heart, together with your clinic-wide medication formulary, marked with a star. You can also search by the Favourite Display Name. See Creating prescriptions.

📌 Note: You have the option to remove your clinic-wide medication formulary (starred) from the list of medications. From the Prescription setting, select Exclude Formulary medications from the medications search results.

1. In the Prescriptions area of an encounter, click the heart icon to Add Medications from My Favourites.

Or, if you have started a new prescription, in the prescription dialog, click my favourites.

2. Select the checkbox beside the medication(s) you want to prescribe and click Save.

💡 Tip: If your list is long, use the Search Favourites field to find your medication.

3. Make any necessary changes to the prescription details, such as dose, refills, and instructions.

4. Complete the prescription as you normally would. See Creating prescriptions and Signing prescriptions for more information.
