Adding a flowsheet data element
Updated over a month ago

Whether you are adding a new flowsheet or viewing an existing flowsheet for a patient, you can add data elements to track.

Any new data elements added to a patient's flowsheet apply only to that patient's flowsheet, and are not reflected in other flowsheet templates of the same type. For example, if you are viewing the diabetes flowsheet for a specific patient and add a data element, that element will not appear in the diabetes flowsheet for other patients.

Steps

1. From a patient's chart, click the flowsheet icon.

2. If you are building a new flowsheet, click Add Flowsheet and then Add Element.

If you are viewing an existing flowsheet for a patient, select the flowsheet from the list. Scroll down to bottom of the flowsheet and click Add Data Element.

3. In the Element Setting window, in the Display Name field, type the name you would like to appear in the flowsheet.

4. From the Resource Type list, select the type of data to add to the flowsheet:

  • Patient Data,

  • Lab Result,

  • Injection,

  • Social History or

  • Medication.

5. Specify the details of the data element you are adding:

📌 Note: It is important that the name of your injection exactly matches the name of the injection in Settings > Injections; otherwise previous injection data will not be pulled into the flowsheet.

Social History

To add a social history item, you must know the code for the field name; please contact CHR support for assistance.

💡Tip: Consider adding alcohol status, smoking status, and physical activity level, as this information is frequently assessed in clinical settings.

Medication

1. In the Medication Name field, search for a medication you want to add.

2. Select a result from the list.

3. Click Save.

6. The new data element is added to the bottom of the flowsheet. To move it, click the element name and drag it to where you want it to appear in the list of elements.

💡 Tip: To delete a data element, click the element name and then click the trash can icon.
