⚠️ Important: This topic applies to the new Instant chat. If you are using the previous Instant chat, and you want to transition to the new version, contact our TELUS CHR support team.

You can use instant chat for quick notifications or discussions about daily tasks or events related to internal operations. All conversations are stored in chat and can easily be accessed by clicking the recipients' name from the list.

📌 Note: When you login, the instant chat widget also appears in the bottom-right corner. You can drag and drop it anywhere within the CHR window.

Steps

1. From the main menu, click Chat or open the instant chat widget and then click the new chat icon.

2. Select the recipient(s) and click Go to chat or Create group chat.

The new group chat is created.

💡 Tips:

  • A green dot indicates users who are logged in and actively using the CHR.

  • A yellow dot indicates users who are logged in but are currently away.

2. To start a conversation with an individual, click Contacts and select their name.

💡 Tip: You can also search for a user by typing a few characters of either their first or last name in the search field.

3. Type your message in the field at the bottom and press Enter on your keyboard to send the message.

Your message is sent to the recipient and appears in the conversation.

💡 Tips:

  • The chat window displays the day and time when the message was sent.

  • A single checkmark next to the message indicates that the message was sent but not yet read by the recipient.

  • A double checkmark next to the message indicates that the message was sent and read by the recipient.
