Submitting Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) claims (Alberta)

When you create WCB claims in the Collaborative Health Record (CHR), each day at 9:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m. and 12:05 a.m. MT, the CHR bundles all WCB billing items (fee items, forms and attachments) with a status of Ready to Submit for your clinic, and creates a WCB Alberta claims submission file. For bills created from an encounter, the encounter also needs to be signed.

When the submission file is created, an entry is added in the AB WCB submenu of the Billing dashboard indicating the submission file is ready to be downloaded.

You can download the submission file to your computer and manually upload the claims file to the myWCB portal.

📌 Note: To perform this action, you must have Billing Dashboard and AB WCB permissions (go to User permissions).

Steps

  1. From the Billing dashboard, click AB WCB at the top-left corner.

  2. The WCB Processing window opens.

  3. Click Download next to the desired file. A green checkmark indicates the submission file is downloaded to the folder per the browser settings on your workstation.

📌 Note: You can download the file as many times as necessary.

  4. Click myWCB in the top right corner of this window to upload your submission file to the myWCB portal.
