What’s new in the CHR

Improvements

Introducing TELUS Health eClaims

TELUS Health eClaims is a direct billing service that allows allied health professionals to quickly and easily submit electronic insurance claims to insurers on behalf of patients.

You can integrate TELUS Health eClaims with your CHR account to create, submit and track insurance claims for all TELUS Health eClaims-supported insurers directly from the CHR. This streamlines the insurance claim process for you and your patients.

To use the TELUS eClaims service, you must first register with TELUS Health eClaims as an independent provider or a clinic with multiple providers. Once registered, you can link your eClaims account to the CHR. Refer to TELUS Health eClaims integration overview.

Some insurance companies are not part of the eClaims service. To keep track of all your third-party bills and payments in one place, you can add those insurance companies to your CHR and create third-party bills similar to how you create them for eClaims-enabled insurers. You can access the insurer portals from the CHR’s insured billing window.

Inbox notifications for forced access to restricted patient charts

In addition to encounters, you can now stay informed about any forced access to restricted patient charts.

If a user gains access to a restricted patient chart, the owner of the restriction and the patient’s primary practitioner receive an automated inbox message.

The notification includes the user who forced access, the date and time of the access, the reason for it, and a link to the restricted patient chart.

Enhanced accountability for patient chart and encounter restrictions

To maintain accountability, once you restrict access to a patient chart or encounter you cannot remove yourself from the user access list, unless you remove the restriction altogether. Similarly, another user cannot remove the owner of the restriction.

Additionally, if a user attempts to force access to a restricted encounter or patient chart, the Permission denied message informs them that an alert will be sent to the owner of the restriction, reinforcing the importance of respecting access restrictions.

CHR Connect: Routing virtual visits through CHR Connect or patient portal

If CHR Connect is enabled for only some of your locations, when adding a patient without an appointment to a pathway, the system now first checks if the patient’s Primary location is enabled for CHR Connect. If enabled, the patient receives a notification to join the virtual visit through CHR Connect. If not, the patient is directed to join the virtual visit through the patient portal.

If the patient has no Primary location assigned, the system uses the clinic's primary location to direct the patient to the correct virtual visit platform.

Patient communication for the UpPatient app transition

When the TELUS CHR patient app (UpPatient) is disabled for a clinic, patients attempting to log into the app will see a message stating that their clinic is no longer available on UpPatient.

For clinics that have CHR Connect enabled, the patients are informed about it with a message detailing the benefits of CHR Connect and instructions on downloading the app.

Role-based access: Granular permissions for Forms

For clinics using role-based access control, you can now set specific user permissions for Forms. This improves data security and privacy for patients while providing more flexibility to create customized roles and access levels for users.

The new Forms permissions you can set are All, List, Create, Read, Update, Archive and Print. Previously, access to forms was controlled by the Patients permission. So that no functionality is lost, all users with the Patients permission now automatically have the corresponding Forms permission.

Fixes

  • When applying an encounter template with numerous Qnaires, they are now in the same order as they are listed in the encounter template. When you click the Start Queued Qnaire(s) button, the Qnaires open in the correct sequence.

  • Alberta: When printing the WCB C050E form, the date of injury and examination accurately reflects the dates you entered instead of one day prior.

  • Alberta: All panelled patients with a valid provincial health number are included in the CPAR export and sent to Alberta Health.
