CHR Release notes - version 25.15

Updated this week

Improvements

Viewing the daily appointment count on the schedule

You can quickly view the total number of appointments each provider has for the day on the schedule. This helps assess each day at a glance and ensure providers are not overbooked.

The appointment counter includes booked appointments and group visits for each provider and day at the selected location.

The counter appears in brackets next to the provider's name or initials at the top of their schedule and is visible in both Day and Week views.

Creating a letter from an encounter note without the encounter data

You can now choose whether to include encounter information when generating a letter from an encounter. This is useful because not all letters need this information.

In the Add Letter window, the encounter information no longer auto-populates. Click + Encounter note to insert the encounter details into the letter at your cursor position.

Viewing the demographics snapshot in the Billing dashboard

In Billing, when you hover over a patient's name, a demographics snapshot now appears and you can verify basic patient information quickly, eliminating the need to open the full patient chart.

Adding and editing group visit templates in French

If you have French enabled in your CHR, when creating or editing group visit templates in Settings > Scheduling, you can enter the names and extra information for the patient and group notes in both English and French.

Once configured, the visits display in your current language across all areas of the CHR. In the patient portal or CHR Connect, patients see the visit in the language you had selected when scheduling the visit. For more information, refer to Creating and modifying group visit templates.

⚠️ Important: All existing text is moved to the English field. If your clinic already has French text and you want patients to view group visits in both languages, you must manually move the French text to the French field.

Viewing additional lab result names in the Latest Lab Results section

In the Latest Lab Results section, all of the lab names sent from the lab vendor now appear under the common name. This provides clarity and consistency with how labs appear in other areas of the CHR.

Searching for locations

📌Note: TELUS Health must manually enable this feature following the release. It could take up to 24 hours before you see the functionality.

In Settings > Account information > Locations, you can quickly search by either the Location name or Internal name with the new search bar above your list of locations.

If your clinic has over 25 locations, the system now loads locations as you scroll, improving performance.

CHR Connect: Seeing when a patient has pre-paid for their appointment

If you have configured pre-payments, you can now easily see when a patient has pre-paid for their appointment on CHR Connect.

On the schedule, a green Pre-paid label appears next to the appointment type name in the appointment booking window. Additionally, the Appointments section of the patient chart includes a new Payment column that also displays the Pre-paid label.

The label appears when the patient successfully pays via their CHR Connect account. You cannot manually add or remove it.

CHR Connect: Customizing the Visit type and Reason for eBooking

You can now customize the instructions and descriptions patients see in the Visit type and Reason tabs when booking an appointment through CHR Connect. Additionally, you can now choose whether you want patients to see the reason (presenting issue) or provide a custom reason.

To configure these settings, from the CHR Connect App settings, click the Booking flow tab. For more information, refer to TELUS CHR Connect Settings.

CHR Connect: New Phone visit type in CHR Connect

When patients request an appointment through CHR Connect, they can now select Phone as a Visit type option.

To enable this new visit type, go to Settings > CHR Connect App > Appointments and under Visit Types, select Phone Visit. Refer to TELUS CHR Connect Settings.

For an appointment to display as a phone visit in CHR Connect, it must be set up as an in-person appointment type with "Phone" or "Telephone" in its name.

To configure this, go to Scheduling settings > Appointment Type and select the appointment type that you want to appear under phone visits. Edit the appointment type name by appending the word “-phone” or “-telephone”. Refer to Creating and modifying appointment types.

Patient portal: Viewing presenting issues and appointment types in French

If you have French enabled in your CHR and are using the patient portal, patients can now view presenting issues, appointment types and descriptions in their preferred language when booking appointments. Additionally, when switching between languages, patients no longer need to refresh.

eClaims: New license issuers and insurers

For clinics using TELUS Health eClaims, we added insurers, and licensing authorities to the license issuer list when adding or updating an associate or independent practitioner.

New Brunswick: Viewing the status of a lab result in French

If you have French enabled in your CHR, the lab result’s status, for example Pending, is now translated to French in the Lab Results section. This matches the translation already in other areas of the CHR.

Fixes

  • New inbox items now follow your sort and filter settings rather than automatically appearing at the top of your inbox.

  • When you forward a message from the Inbox, you see the Recent and All recipients sections only if you have recent recipients.

  • When adding or updating an additional address or contact in a patient’s chart, you now see all updates in the Patient Data section without needing to refresh the page.

  • When a patient chart PDF export fails, you now receive a clear error message explaining how to resolve the issue.

  • When creating referrals within an encounter, you can no longer change the associated patient.

  • When you archive a pathway, the system automatically archives all related items, including phases and transitions.

  • Appointments from deactivated group visits no longer appear in patient charts.

  • When you click to view the newer version of a file in patient file history, you can now click + Lab Results.

  • In the New Injection window, you can now enter only four digits for the year in the Expiry Date field.

  • In the Patient Outbox, when you open a patient file and click Email, the Email outbox window opens and you can send a message.

  • When patients are added to an existing campaign, only the newly added patients receive invitations.

📌 Note: New CHR versions are released on a regular bi-weekly schedule. However, there are times where a fix is released prior to the next scheduled release. These off-schedule release fixes are documented in the separate off-schedule release notes.
