During each obstetrical visit, you record key pregnancy details in the visit table. The visit table data is shared between the prenatal form, patient data (Prenatal, Vitals) and the Obstetrical care section of the patients’ chart. When you enter a new visit into the table, the system automatically fills in any data points measured on the visit date. For example, if the provider has already recorded the vitals, they are pre-filled. This prevents duplicate data entry and consolidates pregnancy information into one table for quick and easy access.
To track obstetrical visit details in the visit table, you need to connect the prenatal form to the current pregnancy. You only need to do this the first time you access the prenatal form. Once the form is linked, you can record visit information.
📌 Note: Only a Current Pregnancy can be linked.
Steps to connect the prenatal form to the pregnancy
From the encounter note, or the Forms section of the patient’s chart, add the prenatal form. For more information, refer to Using electronic forms.
📌 Note: In the Auto Fill Templates window, select Health Profile to auto-populate relevant information, for example, the cycle length.
In the top-left corner, click Connect current pregnancy.
📌 Note: If there is no current pregnancy, you are prompted to create one.
After linking the form, the field updates to Final EDB: date, allowing you to easily identify the pregnancy associated with the form.
To unlink the pregnancy and the form, click the X beside Final EDB: date.
📌 Note: The visit table is removed from the form. Any patient data points added to the visit table stay in the patient's chart. All other data points that were added via the autofill template, for example LMP, remain on the form.
Steps to record obstetrical visit information
In the Summary view of the patient's chart, expand the Obstetrical Care section. Or in the Quick Menu or the Menu, choose Health Profile and then expand the Obstetrical Care section.
Click a current pregnancy and the Obstetrical care record window opens.
Click the Obstetrical visits tab. The Obstetrical visits table appears. If you completed a visit table entry in the linked prenatal form, that information populates.
📌 Notes:
To open the prenatal form, in the top-left corner, click View prenatal form.
If No obstetrical visits appears instead of the table, you must first connect a prenatal form to the pregnancy.
The visit table configuration mirrors the form. To edit the table, you must edit the table on your prenatal form template.
Click +Row. The New obstetrical visit panel opens on the right-hand side.
💡Tip: You can also complete this information from the linked prenatal form. When using the form, the New obstetrical visit section opens in a window instead of a panel, but the workflow remains the same.
Complete the visit details by filling out the appropriate fields.
📌 Notes:
The Date field defaults to today's date, but you can select a date in the past if needed.
Any vitals or patient data measured on the selected date autofills into the corresponding field. For example, blood pressure or weight recorded in the Vitals section of Patient Data or an encounter note.
Click the X beside an autofilled entry to remove it and manually add a new entry. The new value is added to patent data alongside the previous value.
You must enter data in the appropriate format, for example use a numerical value for weight. Entries in the wrong format are not saved.
Click Save. A new row appears in the visit table. The same row now appears in the prenatal form, and any new patient data is added to the corresponding patient data point in the patient’s chart. For example, adding a Weight here also adds the value in Patient Data > Vitals > Weight, and adding an SFH adds a value in Patient Data > Prenatal > Symphysis Fundal Height.
To edit or remove a row, click the row to open the Edit New obstetrical visit section.
📌 Notes: If you remove a mapped data point, for example Weight, it remains in the Patient Data section of the patient’s chart.
To remove an entry, click the X beside it.
To delete the entire row, click Remove at the bottom of the panel or window.
Click Save.
