Using autofill templates on forms
Updated over a year ago

Autofill templates for electronic forms enable you to automatically select specific checkboxes or populate text boxes with default text. For example, you can create autofill templates for a lab requisition that you use for patient intake. Female and male patients need different tests done, and, by creating autofill templates, you can easily pre-select the tests required for each gender and streamline your workflow.

For information about how to configure autofill templates, see Creating autofill templates.

Steps

  1. Open the form you want to use (see Using electronic forms). The Auto Fill Templates window opens.

  2. Under Patient Data, select the autofill template to use.

    📌 Notes:

    • Autofill templates have a bucket icon associated with them.

    • If you do not have any autofill template options to choose from, in the Auto Fill Templates window, you must create them (see Creating autofill templates).

    • You must complete all other fields in the Auto Fill Templates window as you normally would (see Pulling information into forms).

  3. Click Apply. The form is populated with the default text and checkboxes configured in the autofill template you selected.

📌 Note: In the forms section of the patient chart, the name of the autofill template that was applied to the form appears below the form name. This is helpful if you regularly use the same form with different autofill templates. You can easily find a specific form requisition without having to open each one.
