Filtering and sorting the tasks list

Updated today

You can filter and sort your tasks list to customize your view and focus on tasks that are important to you or have a higher priority.

You can set more than one filter at a time. For example, you can filter to see all critical tasks for a specific category or period, or only new tasks that are assigned to you.

You can save the filters you use the most as views so you don't have to set them each time. The CHR comes with one prebuilt view called All tasks. If your clinic created saved views, they also appear in the list of views.

The CHR remembers the last filters, view or sort order you used.

Steps

1. From the main menu, click Tasks.

2. All of the filters appear at the top of the tasks list. Click a filter to select a value and apply it. When it’s applied, the filter is blue.

  • If you have saved views, in the top-left corner, click the View list and select the view you want to use. The configured filters for that view are automatically applied.

  • If no saved view is selected, Custom appears instead of the view name.

📌 Note: To hide the filters, in the top-right corner, click Collapse filters. Click Expand filters to bring them back.

Refer to the table below for a description of each filter.

Filter

Description

Priority

Select the priority of the task (Critical, Routine or Urgent).

Status

Select the status of the task (New, In progress, On hold, Cancelled or Done).

Task Category

Select a category from the list, or select Unassigned to view tasks without a category. Categories are customized by clinic. Refer to Creating tasks categories and templates.

Created by or Assignee

Search for and select the user who created the task or the user it’s assigned to.

In the Assignee filter, select Unassigned to view tasks without an assignee.

Start Date and Due Date

You can filter tasks by Start Date or Due Date.

You can select a Specific date or date range in the calendar.

📌 Note: You cannot select multiple individual dates.

You can also select a Relative date or date range that automatically updates based on the current date. Select either a Custom or preset option.

For example, Yesterday always shows yesterday's tasks, and Last 30 days shows tasks for the last month. This is useful when you want to include a date in a saved view.

Location

Select the location of the task.

3. To remove a filter, click the x within that filter.

4. To restore your default view, click Reset in the top-left corner.

5. To sort the tasks list, click a column header. An arrow appears to indicate that you are sorting by that column.

By default, tasks are sorted by Priority first, then by Start Date in chronological order. The tasks are always secondarily sorted in chronological order of start date. For example, when you sort by Assignee, all tasks assigned to the same user appear in chronological order.

💡 Tips:

  • When the arrow points up, tasks are sorted in chronological or alphabetical order. When the arrow points down, tasks are sorted in reverse chronological or alphabetical order.

  • When sorting on the Created by, Assignee, or Patient columns, the first name of the user or patient is used.
