β οΈ Important: This is currently a beta feature, available to a few CHR beta users in order to test and provide feedback. It will be available to more users once the beta period is complete.
Agentic AI uses intelligent agents (also known as AI agents) working alongside the Collaborative Health Record (CHR) as helpful background assistants. These AI agents analyze encounter notes and patient charts as you work, actively looking for ways to help. Think of them as silent teammates who keep watch over your documentation, helping you maintain accurate records without interrupting your workflow.
The Family History AI Agent analyzes encounter notes and provides smart suggestions to ensure the patient's health profile is accurate. It actively identifies relevant family history information, prompts for missing details, and organizes this data within the patient's chart.
Steps
Start or access an encounter from your schedule, from the Visits dashboard, or from the patient's chart. Refer to Starting an encounter.
Begin writing your notes in the History section of the encounter. The AI analyzing spinner appears at the bottom of the window, beside the Sign button.
π Note: A yellow banner appears if the AI agent is temporarily unavailable. This indicates that you should manually review and enter family history information.
AI suggestions appear as distinct badges below the History field after autosave or you navigate away from the encounter.
π Note: The AI Agent does not generate suggestions when you list the absence of conditions (e.g., "No family history of heart disease").
Two counters help you track your suggestions:
The AI suggestions counter above the suggestion badges includes both pending and accepted items.
π Note: The total suggestion count remains constant even as you accept items, helping you track your overall progress.
The pending counter, located beside the Sign button, shows only suggestions awaiting your review.
Hover over any suggestion badge to preview the proposed addition and its source from the encounter note. This preview helps you quickly assess the relevance of each suggestion.
You can quickly handle suggestions either individually or in bulk.
Click the checkmark to accept individual suggestions or the X to dismiss them.
For multiple suggestions, click Accept all or Dismiss all.
π Note: Suggestion badges show a green checkmark once accepted. When you accept multiple suggestions, badges turn grey to indicate processing. If you dismiss all suggestions while one remains open, it closes automatically if you haven't made changes; otherwise, it asks you to confirm. When one provider accepts a suggestion, all providers see the update in real time.
Click the AI icon on any suggestion badge to launch the AI copilot, a patient and encounter-specific chat interface where you can request changes to suggestions, for example.
π Note: Multiple providers can access the AI copilot simultaneously. Your messages appear in blue and other providers' messages in grey. For more information, refer to [Link: Using the AI Agent Copilot].
When you click a suggestion badge, a detailed Family History Record opens and a purple AI icon appears next to AI-prefilled fields. The AI automatically pre-fills fields such as life stage, start date, age at onset, and treatment using available encounter data and fills the Diagnoses field with the appropriate diagnostic code or short free-text summary. When a risk factor is included in the suggestion, it also selects the Risk Factor checkbox.
π‘ Tip: The AI agent uses your favourite diagnostic codes when matching suggested family history items. If it finds no match, it matches with all diagnoses.
Review and edit the pre-filled information as needed. You can manually fill any fields left blank by the AI Agent.
Click Save. The suggestion is marked as accepted and the new or updated item is added to the Family History section of the Health Profile.
Once you sign the encounter, the suggestion badges disappear. If you unlock the encounter, the suggestion badges reappear.
