Filtering the Billing dashboard

You can filter the Billing dashboard to generate and export customized reports. You can filter by service date, billing providers, billing codes, statuses, location, insurer, payment methods, patient identification, payment tags, and eClaims-supported insurers.

Steps

1. From the main menu, click Billing.

2. Click anywhere on the menu of filter options to open the Current Filter window.

πŸ’‘ Tip: The menu of filter options provides a visual indication of filters that you have applied - a number on the icon represents how many filters of that type you have selected.

Filter by

Description/Action

Date
​

By default, the Billing dashboard opens to the current day.

  1. Click Service Date.

  2. Under Search by, select Service Date (appointment date), Created Date (date the bill was created) or Paid Date.

  3. Select a day, month, and year from the fields below the calendar.

πŸ“Œ Note: If Service Date range is greater than one year, no totals will be displayed.

Billing practitioner
​

By default, all providers are selected.

Click All Billing Providers, type in the Search field to find and select a specific provider, or scroll through the list and select the provider(s).

Insurer
​

By default, all insurers are selected.

Click All Insurers and select the appropriate insurer from the list.


β€‹πŸ“Œ Note: You can filter your bills using specific billing templates, including:

  • Insured billing provider templates

  • Third party templates

  • Private billing templates

Codes
​

πŸ“Œ Note: You must select an Insurer for the specific billing codes you select.

e.g. to filter by OHIP codes, set the Insurer to Ontario Health Insurance Plan.

By default, all billing codes are selected.

Click All Code, type the Code or Description and select from the list. You can add multiple codes.

πŸ’‘ Tip: To clear the selected codes, you must deselect each one individually.

Payment methods

By default, all payment methods are selected.

Click All Payment Methods and search and select the appropriate method of payment from the list.

Statuses
​

By default, all statuses are selected.

Click All Statuses, type in the Search field to find and select a specific status.

πŸ’‘ Tip: To clear the selected statuses, you must deselect each one individually.

Patient identification

By default, all identification types are selected.

Click All Identification Types and search for and select the patient identification type from the list.

πŸ“Œ Note: If you select TELUS eClaims, a new filter Primary insurers appears. You can filter your billing dashboard by the individual eClaims-supported primary insurers.

Locations
​

By default, all clinic locations are selected (if applicable).

Click All Locations and select the appropriate location from the list.

Payment tags
​

πŸ“Œ Note: This filter applies to clinics that use payment tags.

By default, no tags are selected.

  1. Select With or Without from the list

  2. Select And or Or from the list

  3. Click Payment Tags Filter and search for and select the payment tag(s) from the list.

Sort
​

Your bills are sorted by Service Date in Descending order by default.

Click Service Date and select Created Date or Amount (payment) from the list.

Click Descending to change the order to Ascending.

3. Click Apply.

The filtered billing items appear. You can see the corresponding total amount(s) in dollars on the left.

πŸ“Œ Note: When you move to a different section of the CHR and return to the Billing dashboard, your filters are still there. However, when you log out of the CHR, those filters are cleared.

πŸ’‘ Tips:

  • If you use the same filters on a regular basis, you can create saved filters. See Creating Saved billing dashboard filters.

  • If you are a billing provider and you want to look at only your billing items for today, select the person icon at the top right corner of the Billing dashboard.

  • To filter your bills by specific time intervals, you can use the Preset Filters on the left side: Today, Yesterday, This Week, This Month, Last Month, and This Year.
