The TELUS Collaborative Health Record (CHR) includes a comprehensive and highly configurable referral feature that enables you to send and receive referrals, and track the status of referrals along the way.

From a central referrals dashboard, or referrals list, you can view your waiting lists, custom statuses, priorities, and track referrals.

To access this referrals dashboard (list), from the main menu, click Referrals.

When referrals are created in patient charts they appears in the corresponding folders and vice versa. A referral can also be created from an incoming fax, or directly from within the referrals dashboard (list).

The default folders that are in every CHR system, are Incoming, Internal and Outgoing.

If you create waiting lists, the folders will also appear in this section. See Creating referral waiting lists for your clinic.

Steps (to access your folders)

  1. Click the No Selected Folder box in the top bar.
    A search field appears.

  2. Type the folder name that you are looking for.

  3. Select the folder.

Once you have selected a specific referral, referral or waiting list folder (with or without filters), the default view displays the following columns.

Column

Description

Patient

The reason for referral, patient name, sex and date of birth are displayed here.

Ordering Provider

Name of the provider that sent the referral.

Service Provider

Name of the intended recipient of the referral.

Status

The current status of the referral. The options here are defined based on your CHR system setup. See Configuring incoming referral statuses and Configuring outgoing referral statuses.

Priority

The current priority of the referral. These can be customised. See Creating custom referral priorities.

Date Added

This is the date when the referral was added to the system.

Last Comment

The last comment that was documented by a CHR user within the referral item.
📌 Note: If you do not see this column in your dashboard, contact the TELUS Health support team through the in-app support bubble.

💡 Tip: To hide one or more of the above columns, click the gear icon in the top right corner.

To access any information regarding a referral, click on the referral listed in your referrals list. The Edit Referral window opens.
