You can configure outgoing referral statuses to suit the needs of your clinic. You can filter the Referrals dashboard (list) by status. See Finding and accessing referrals from the referrals dashboard (list) for more details.

📌 Note: Some statuses are preloaded by default to your CHR domain, such as Draft, Ready, Letter Sent, Received, and Needs follow up.

⚠️ Important: Do not delete outgoing referral statuses unless there are no patients in your referrals list with the specific status.

📌 Note: The referral will still be visible in the patient's chart, under Referrals.

Make Referral Billing Item (BC Only)

Automatically creates a no charge billing item (Code 3333) with the relevant ordering and service providers attached.

📌 Note: This action is relevant to family practices in British Columbia using our integrated billing service when they refer to specialists.

6. Click Save.

📌 Note: If your clinic uses one status most of the time when creating a referral, you can select it as the default status. This way, CHR users do not have to select the status every time they create a referral.
