When patients self-book appointments through your appointment booking site, or when they access the patient portal, you can require them to verify their identity. When this option is enabled, when patients go to book an appointment, they're prompted to enter their last name, date of birth, gender, provincial health number and mobile phone number or email address. The information they enter must match their information in the TELUS Collaborative Health Record (CHR).

If the information matches, the patient is sent a one-time passcode through text or email, which they must enter before they can move on with the booking process.

Steps

1. From the main menu, click Settings > Scheduling.

2. Click the Extra tab.

3. In the Verify Existing Patients list, select one of the following options:

  • Yes: To require patients to verify their identity

  • No: To not require patients to verify their identity

4. Click Submit.

5. Refresh your browser for the changes to take effect.
