Health Report Manager (HRM) (Ontario)
Health Report Manager (HRM) (Ontario)
Updated over a week ago

In Ontario, the Collaborative Health Record (CHR) integrates with Health Report Manager (HRM) to securely receive patient reports electronically from participating hospitals and specialty clinics. You can then integrate these reports in patient charts for a complete history.

All HRM reports are received as PDF documents. HRM reports include:

  • Medical reports (MR) (such as discharge, consultation, oncology, and surgery).

  • Diagnostic imaging reports (DI) (such as mammogram, X-ray, CT, ultrasound, MRI, and echocardiogram)

For more information, see Viewing reports from HRM.

HRM process

  1. The health information system sends a patient report to the Health Report Manager.

  2. HRM converts the patient report into the CHR standard message format, encrypts, and stores the report in an sFTP folder for secure pickup by the TELUS CHR.

  3. Your CHR domain picks up the report, which is saved to the patient's chart and your inbox for review and sign-off.

For an up-to-date list of hospitals that are currently connected to HRM, see the OntarioMD website.

The CHR automatically connects to and downloads HRM reports every 30 minutes by default. You can customize this polling interval (see Configuring your HRM polling interval).

HRM sends all patient reports to all EMRs/CHRs where a provider is registered for HRM. HRM cannot send a provider’s reports to only a single EMR/CHR.

⚠️ Important: Reports are routed based on the provider's CPSO/CNO license number. Ensure that it is entered correctly under the provider's profile. See Adding your credentials to your profile.

Setting up a new connection with HRM

To configure HRM in your CHR contact our TELUS Account Management team via email: chraccountmanagement@telus.com. If you are still in the implementation phase, speak to your project manager.

⚠️ Important: Deployment can take approximately 3 to 4 weeks from the time you sign the required licence agreements and have the connection to HRM configured in your CHR account.

Adding a new provider to an existing connection

If your clinic is already connected to HRM and a new provider joins your clinic, contact your OMD Practice Advisor.

📌 Note: If you do not know who is your Practice Advisor, email OMD at support@ontariomd.com.

Once the provider receives an HRM welcome report from OMD, they will start to receive HRM reports through the CHR.
