Billing for a newborn baby without a provincial health number (PEI)
Updated over 2 years ago

A newborn baby will not have an assigned PEI health card number. You must therefore bill Health PEI (HPEI), using the mother's PEI health card number.

⚠️ Important: Ensure the baby is added to the CHR as a patient. See Adding a patient.

  • Under Identifications, select Health ID and add an arbitrary identification value (e.g. 123456789)

  • This number must be replaced once the baby has a valid PEI health card number.

Steps

2. When adding a billing item, select the Show Advanced Fields check box.
The window extends with additional fields

3. In the New Born Mother PHN field, enter the mother's provincial health number.
📌 Note: If the mother is from out-of-province, in the Responsible for Pay field, select Other.

4. Click outside the billing item and click Save.
