Configuring CII and CPAR in the CHR
Configuring CII and CPAR in the CHR
Updated over a week ago

Before you can use Community Information Integration (CII) or Central Patient Attachment Registry (CPAR) from the CHR, the following requirements must be met:

  • The clinic and at least one provider must be registered with Alberta Netcare.

  • TELUS Health must enable CII and/or CPAR for your system.

  • For CPAR, providers must have their Practitioner ID recorded.

  • For CII, providers should have their Practitioner ID or License Number recorded if they have one. In the case where the provider does not have a provincially-issued identifier, the Practitioner ID or License Number is not necessary.

  • For CII, if a provider is sending consult reports, the Specialty must be recorded.

  • CII must be enabled at the clinic level and then enabled for each participating provider. TELUS Health will generally enable CII for the clinic for you, but if it isn't enabled you must have CII/CPAR settings permissions to enable it. (See Modifying user permissions for more information).

Entering Practitioner ID, License Number, and Specialty (CII and/or CPAR)

An administrator with Edit Other Users and User Settings permissions must enter the Practitioner ID or License Number for each provider, as well as the Specialty for providers who are sending consult reports.

1. From the main menu, choose Settings > Account and click Edit for a provider who is registered for CII and/or CPAR.

2. From the Integrations tab, enter the Practitioner ID.

3. If the provider is sending consult reports, select the provider's Specialty from the list.

4. If a provider does not have a Practitioner ID, enter the License Number in the General tab.

💡 Tip: A provider can also enter their license number from their profile. If they have already done so, it will appear here.

5. Click Submit.

If you are configuring CII for the provider, you can also complete the steps in Steps to enable CII for a provider at this time.

CPAR configuration

1. Ensure each participating provider's practitioner ID is recorded, as above.

📌 Note: If a provider's practitioner ID is not recorded in the CHR, the CPAR panel data will not be sent.

2. Create CPAR panels (see Managing panels for the clinic). You must have CII/CPAR settings permissions to manage CPAR panels.

CII configuration

1. Ensure each participating provider's practitioner ID or license number is recorded, as above.

Steps to enable CII for the clinic

📌 Note: TELUS Health will generally enable CII for the clinic for you. However, if you need to do this yourself, you must have CII/CPAR settings permissions (see Modifying user permissions for more information).

1. From the main menu, choose Settings > CII/CPAR.

2. From the CII tab, configure CII for each location:

a) Select the checkbox to indicate that Consult Reports and/or Encounters will be sent to Alberta Netcare.

b) Type your clinic's Facility Number.

c) Type a Facility Name if it is different than the location name. For example, if you have only one location named Default, enter your clinic name as the Facility Name. If you have multiple locations configured and each has a descriptive name (such as the name of the clinic), you can leave the Facility Name blank.

d) If you have more than one location, select the Submitting Site (generally the same as the location).

e) Click Save Settings.

Steps to enable CII for a provider

📌 Note: TELUS Health will generally enable CII for a participating provider for you. However, if you need to do this yourself, you must have Edit Other Users and User Settings permissions (see Modifying user permissions for more information).

1. From the main menu, choose Settings > Account and click Edit for a provider who is registered for CII.

2. From the Integrations tab, select the appropriate checkbox to identify whether the provider is sending Consult Reports or Encounters.

📌 Note: The Integrations tab is visible only if the selected user has a user type of Practitioner and CII and/or CPAR is enabled for the clinic.

3. Click Submit.
