Viewing ClinicalConnect from the CHR (Ontario)

Updated over 2 weeks ago

⚠️ Important: This is currently a beta feature, available to a few CHR beta users in order to test and provide feedback. It will be available to more users once the beta period is complete.

ClinicalConnect is a secure, web-based clinical viewer that provides access to a patient's electronic medical information from hospitals, Community Care Access Centres (CCACs) and oncology centres in southwest Ontario. Using ClinicalConnect, you can access a patient's lab results, test and procedure reports, allergies, and more. For more information, see the ClinicalConnect website.

You can quickly access ClinicalConnect directly from a patient's chart in the CHR, using the built-in provincial integration service viewer.

Steps

1. Launch ClinicalConnect from the CHR's built-in viewer. For more information, see Logging into provincial integration services.

2. When the ClinicalConnect viewer loads, if you are not the patient's provider, a warning appears and you must override to proceed.

a) Select whether you are a physician or nurse practitioner, health care practitioner other than physician or nurse practitioner, or another role.

b) Click Perform Override.

3. The ClinicalConnect viewer for the selected patient is displayed. Navigate the modules for the patient as you normally do when using ClinicalConnect. To learn more about ClinicalConnect features and functionality, refer to the ClinicalConnect resource centre.

4. When you are finished, close the ClinicalConnect window.

💡 Tip: The ClinicalConnect viewer will close automatically if you move away from the patient's chart in the CHR or log out of the CHR.

📌 Note: We do not recommend you log out of ClinicalConnect using the log out menu option within the ClinicalConnect viewer. If you do so, you must manually enter your username and password for ClinicalConnect when you next open it from the CHR on the same day.
