What’s new in the CHR

Improvements

Quickly adding a recipient to a new message

When creating a new message from the Inbox or a patient’s chart, your cursor is now automatically placed in the To: field, eliminating an extra click and saving you time.

Using tooltips to view lab test names in Inbox messages

In the Inbox, when you hover over the filename of a lab report, a tooltip now appears and lists all of the lab test names in that lab report.

Simplified patient data variable entry

The Ignore Blank Values field is no longer included in the Add Patient Data Variable window when you are adding a patient data variable to a template. This field was not used so was removed to reduce clutter and simplify adding a patient data variable.

Ontario: Using MDBilling diagnostic codes on a bill

When creating a bill and searching for a diagnosis by code, if the diagnosis code doesn’t exist in your default diagnosis template (Settings > Templates > Encounter > Default Diagnosis Template), any matching MDBilling diagnosis codes and descriptions are listed. You can save MDBilling-specific diagnosis codes to your favourites.

📌Note: If a diagnosis code exists in both your default diagnosis template and the MDBilling diagnosis list, only matches from your default diagnosis template appear in the list. Also, the MDBilling diagnostic codes are available only on a bill, and not when adding a diagnosis to an encounter.

Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario: Easily select your default diagnosis template

In a recent release, we introduced new and improved diagnosis code templates. To easily find and select them in the list (Settings > Templates > Encounter > Default Diagnosis Template), the templates are now at the top of the list.

PEI: Location-based access

⚠️ Important: These features must be enabled by TELUS Health so the changes may not be immediately visible in your system. If you want them enabled, please contact your clinic administrator.

Filtering the schedule by group for all accessible locations

When filtering the schedule by groups, you can now see groups for all locations you can access, even if you are not a member of that specific group. This is useful for staff who are not included in all of the groups, but need to book appointments for multiple providers that are in the same location but different groups.

Fixes

Below is a list of bugs we have identified and fixed in this release. For more information, contact our TELUS Health support team.

  • All patient data variables now print on custom label templates.

  • The Referring Practitioner from the patient’s chart is now populated when creating a bill via Quick Bill Entry.

  • If a patient has more than one identification recorded, the primary identification is always used in areas of the CHR where patient demographics are shown in a header. Previously the most recently-created identification may have appeared.

  • To prevent data loss, when you unlock an encounter you can no longer add a follow-up Qnaire or delete an existing follow-up Qnaire in the encounter.

  • To ensure you can filter the list of referrals in a waiting list by status, you can no longer delete a waiting list status if there is an active referral with that status. A message appears notifying you that the waiting list status is being used.

  • When selecting a Service Provider on an outgoing referral, the provider’s facility and occupation are no longer shown in the field with the provider’s name. Previously this information displayed when creating the referral, but not after saving the referral.

  • We made performance improvements when loading patient charts and CHR settings, related to loading lab test names.

  • For clinics using role-based access control (RBAC), a permission denied message no longer appears when opening the patient Summary when there are sections that you do not have permission to view. If you do not have permission to view a specific section of the summary, that section shows No Permission instead of the data.

  • For clinics using Healthcare Directory:

    • When you fax a prescription and select a pharmacy from the Healthcare Directory, the pharmacy is now included when viewing the Send History of the prescription.

    • The Service Provider once again appears when opening an existing outgoing referral.

    • When searching for a Recipient or CC recipient on a letter, all matches from the Healthcare Directory are listed even if they do not have a fax number. If you attempt to fax a letter to an addressee that does not have a fax number recorded, a message appears indicating the recipient was removed from the faxed letter.

    • When searching for a Recipient or CC recipient on a letter, the entire page does not load after every character you type.

    • When searching for a contact in various areas of the CHR, matches from your local contacts list appear at the top of the list.
