Billing data segregation overview

📌 Note: Billing segregation is not yet available. This feature is currently in development and will be rolled out at a later date.

By default, all users can view billing information. Billing data segregation is a feature you can enable to control who can view billing information in your clinic.

Before you enable billing data segregation, set up your delegation list. Once enabled, providers and their delegates see only their own billing information, keeping it private from other providers and staff. This prevents unauthorized access to other providers' financial data.

Account owners and TELUS CHR Support maintain full visibility across all provider accounts for oversight and support. This feature separates insured and private billing data within encounters, patient charts, the Billing dashboard, and the Visits dashboard.

The below table outlines access permissions by user:

If you're an account owner

You have full access to all billing data across your clinic including:

  • All practitioners' billing data

  • All insured and private billing information

  • Complete billing summaries showing each practitioner's billing amount

  • All locations: Billing dashboard, encounters, patient charts, Visits dashboard

If you're a practitioner

You see only your own billing records across all locations by default. You can view your own insured and private billing from your Billing dashboard, in encounters, patient charts, and the Visits dashboard. You cannot view other practitioners' billing records.

Practitioners can also delegate billing access to allow other practitioners to view their billing data. If another practitioner delegates billing access to you, you can view their billing information in the same locations as your own:

  • Billing dashboard

  • Billing data within encounters

  • Patient chart (insured and private billing)

  • Visits dashboard (insured and private billing)

⚠️ Important: If a private bill is created without a designated practitioner, all users will see it. When creating private bills, always assign them to the correct practitioner to maintain proper segregation.

If you're a delegated member

If a practitioner delegates billing access to you, you can view that practitioner's billing information across all billing locations. The practitioner must explicitly add you as a delegate in their Profile > Billing > Billing Delegation, and you can view only the practitioners who added you to their delegation list.

For example, Dr. Smith has delegated billing access to a staff member in the billing clerks group. Dr. Jones has delegated billing access to a second staff member in the billing clerks group. Dr. Smith has also delegated billing access to Dr. Jones.

📌 Note: If you see a message that billing is hidden, that practitioner hasn't delegated access to you. For more information, refer to Delegating billing access to individual users and groups.
