Customizing your encounter settings

Each user can customize the layout of their encounters

Updated over a week ago

You can customize various settings in encounters to suit your needs. When you change these settings, they affect only your encounters, and not those of other users.

Steps

1. Open a new or draft encounter.

2. In the bottom-right corner of the encounter, click the gear icon.

The Encounter Settings window opens.

3. Customize your settings, using the following table as a reference.

Setting

Description

Natural Language Paragraphs

Select which section should be populated with the Natural Language Paragraphs configured in Qnaires. For more information, see Setting up natural language in Qnaires.

Select if you want the natural language paragraph to populate at the Top or Bottom of any text already in the section or that is part of your encounter template.

Initial Insertion Mode adds your initials when you first start typing.

Qnaire Responses

Qnaire responses can be pulled into the encounter. You have the option to include the Qnaire responses for that specific day.

Diagnostic Code

Select to link your diagnostic codes in the Assessment and Plan section with any billing items created in the encounter. See Syncing diagnosis codes.

Vitals

Select how many previous vital records you would like to see in the encounter. See Displaying a patient's previous vitals and measurements in encounters.

💡 Tip: You can further customize your table (see Customizing what vitals and measurements entry columns display in encounters).

Hide Selected Section(s)

You have the option of hiding specific sections within the encounter.

4. Click Save.
