Finding a patient from an invoice number
Finding a patient from an invoice number

This article will explain how you can find a patient when all you are given is an invoice number.

Updated over a year ago

If you receive payment for a private bill that does not include patient information, it can be difficult to locate the original claim within the TELUS Collaborate Health Record (CHR). Luckily you can use the invoice number to find the patient.

The invoice number is made up of two sets of numbers:

The first set of numbers is the ID of the patient's chart and it may be something you have not seen before. To view this ID, it must be enabled (see Enabling chart IDs). Once enabled, the ID shows in the patient header beside the health card number.

You can then search for a patient based on their chart ID, the same way you would search for them by their Health Card Number (see Searching for patients).

Steps

  1. Find the invoice number on your physical payment.

  2. From the main menu, click Patients.

  3. At the top of the patient list, click the magnifying glass.

  4. Select ID from the criteria list.

  5. Type the first set of numbers of the invoice in the empty field.

  6. The patient name populates. To open the patient chart, click the patient's name.
