In Ontario and British Columbia, the TELUS Collaborative Health Record (CHR) integrates with Excelleris (LifeLabs). Excelleris is a health information exchange provider that delivers lab results from Lifelabs to the CHR.
With this integration, Excelleris lab results are securely transmitted to your CHR inbox. You can then share the electronic lab results with other CHR users at your clinic and with your patient through our encrypted messaging tool. For more information, see Viewing electronic lab reports.
⚠️ Important:
Labs are routed based on the providers billing number. Please ensure that all billing numbers are entered accurately in the providers profiles. For more information, see Updating your user profile information.
The CHR pulls lab results from the lab distributor every 15 minutes.
Requesting an integration from Excelleris
To integrate a provider with Excelleris, you must first submit the Hl7 Health Care Provider setup form to Excelleris. The CHR team can do this on your behalf. Contact the TELUS Health support team through the support chat. See Contact us. Please have the below information ready:
Clinic name.
Clinic address.
Primary contact name, phone, and email (the person who should be contacted if there is an issue with the setup).
The name and billing numbers of all of the doctors who need to be added.
Do any of the physicians need to receive the results from the 2 weeks prior to integration? This will push the labs for the past two weeks for this physician to the CHR.
⚠️ Important: This request can take up to four weeks to process.
📌 Note: To add a new provider or remove a provider from an existing Excelleris account, email clientservices@excelleris.com with the name and billing number of the provider. If you have the case number for the original integration request, include it.
Excelleris creates the provider's setup on their end. Once completed, Excelleris supplies the provider's certificate and login information to whoever submitted the request (CHR support or yourself). The CHR support team will contact you via the support chat once they have this information.
If you are configuring a new integration, you must then add this information to your CHR. If you are adding a new provider to an existing setup, you do not need to do this step as they will share your existing configuration.
Steps
From the main menu, click Settings > Labs.
In the Lab Integrations section, click +Integration.
In the log in window, enter all required information provided by Excelleris.
Click the paperclip icon to upload the certificate file. This is the only time you will require the file. Feel free to delete from your device after you complete these steps.
💡 Tip: To ensure that you see the certificate you downloaded, select All files (*.*) at the bottom-right corner of Windows file explorer.
From the provider list, choose one of the following:
Current Provider: Labs are directed to the inbox of the account you are configuring. You will have one general inbox for all labs received.
Ordering Providers: Labs are directed to the inbox of the ordering physician. If no match is found, it will act the same as the Current Provider option.
Spread Receivable Providers: Labs are directed to the inbox of the ordering physician and anyone CC'd to the report or listed under Report to on the lab requisition. If no match is found, it will act the same as the Current Provider option.
Single Inbox: Labs are directed to the inbox of the account selected in Default Recipient above. You will have one general inbox for all labs received.
Click Authenticate.
Refresh your browser. You are now integrated with Excelleris.
If you have any difficulties with this process, contact the TELUS Health support team through the support chat. We can then screen-share with you to complete the setup process. See Contact us.
