Generating a PDF of an encounter
Updated over 6 months ago

You can create a PDF copy of a single encounter note to download, print, email or fax. This is useful when you need to provide an overview of a particular patient visit. The generated PDF is not saved to the patient chart.

The PDF includes a header with the current date, patient demographics and your location details.

The body of the PDF is broken into subsections matching the sections of your encounter such as History or Injections. If a section does not contain data, it is not included in the PDF.

📌 Note: The names of Attachments, Forms and Letters are shown but the actual document is not included.

Steps

  1. Open the encounter note for which you want to create a PDF.

  2. At the top-right, click PDF, and the PDF Settings window opens.

📌 Note: If you do not see the PDF Settings window, you may have disabled it. See Enabling skipped dialog messages or warnings to learn how to get it back.

  3. From the lists, select the Location, Phone/Fax and Cover Page you want to appear in your PDF. For more information on adding a cover page, see Adding a fax cover page to a PDF document.

  4. Click Generate PDF, and your PDF opens in a new window. Using the built-in PDF viewer and editor, you can easily edit your PDF. For more information, refer to Editing patient documents.

  5. At the top-right, click Export, Print, Email or Fax depending on your needs.

  6. The download starts automatically. If you are printing, emailing or faxing, follow the steps you normally would to print, email or fax.
