When you're recording encounter notes, in the Examination area, you can record the patient's vitals and measurements without having to open the Patient Data area of the chart. When you sign the encounter, the vitals and measurements are automatically added to the Patient Data area of the chart.

Steps

1. Start an encounter for the patient. See Starting an encounter.

2. At the top of the Examination area, click Add Vitals.

The vitals and measurements entry fields display in a table format.

3. In one or more of the entry fields, type the patient's values. For example, you can enter height, weight, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature and O2 saturation.

💡 Tip: When you enter both the height and weight, the TELUS CHR automatically calculates BMI.

💡 Tip: Want to add or remove a vital or measurement field? No problem, you can customize what columns display in the entry table. See Customizing what vitals and measurements entry columns display in encounters.

💡 Tip: You can choose to display the patient's previously recorded vitals and measurements in the Examination area. See Displaying a patient's previous vitals and measurements in encounters.

When you sign the encounter, the vitals and measurements are added to the Patient Data area of the patient's chart.
