You can use billing templates to speed up your billing process. For more information on creating billing templates, refer to Creating billing templates.
When applying the template to a bill, you can add or edit the billing details. For example, a general template for all providers at your clinic may not have the Billing Practitioner included, but you can select the practitioner when applying the template.
📌 Note: Billing templates cannot be applied from encounter notes. If you do your billing from encounter notes, you should include billing details in an encounter note template. For more information, refer to Creating or editing encounter templates.
Steps
1. From the patient's chart, or Visits dashboard, create a new bill. For more information refer to:
2. From the New Insured Payment window, click Template in the top-right corner, and a new Select Template window appears.
3. Select your billing template; a preview of the template shows on the right.
4. Click Apply this template; the template is applied to your payment.
📌 Notes:
Most information, including rules and calculations, carries over from the billing template. However, date and time fields do not carry over. For example, the Service Date displays the current date or the Service Date you selected before applying the template.
The fee amount is based on the service date of the bill and will override the fee amount on your template if they are different.
Status and Location are not applied from a bill template.
The system uses the default diagnosis list that is configured in Settings > Templates > Encounter.
However, if you bill multiple provinces, you can link additional diagnosis sets to different payment issuers. Refer to Linking diagnosis sets to payment issuers. Once a link is created, when you apply the template the diagnosis list linked to the payment issuer is used.
5. If required, once applied, you can add or edit the billing details.
💡 Tip: You can add multiple templates to the same bill. Payment issuer, billing practitioner and overall bill values are overwritten by the most recent template. Fee items and internal notes are appended.
