What’s new in the CHR

Improvements

Validating patient demographics

You can quickly record that you have confirmed a patient’s demographic information is up-to-date and see the last time someone validated the information. Having current demographic information ensures you can reach patients for important follow-ups, and prevents billing rejections.

In the Dashboard view of the chart, click Update Information. After verifying the information, click Save and validate. The Last validated date shows below the identifications.

For more information, refer to Updating and validating patient demographics.

📌Note: This feature was previously available but had to be manually enabled by TELUS Health.

Setting to filter schedule with available or booked appointments

You can use the Toggle auto-practitioners filter (magnet icon) in the schedule to see only the schedules of providers who are working that day, i.e., they have availability or appointments booked. This feature was previously available but had to be manually enabled by TELUS Health.

You can now enable this filter in Settings > Scheduling > Extra. If you enable Filter Schedule with available or booked appointments, the magnet icon is shown in the scheduler. If you disable the setting, the magnet icon does not appear.

For more information, refer to Filtering the schedule.

Customizable file name separators

It’s now easier to apply multiple file names to one document and to read the file names. In Settings > Patient File, you can choose how to separate file names: by a space (default setting), underscore, or dash.

When you click into the File Name field for a document, the Default file names are listed; you no longer need to type a space to begin searching for a default file name. Once you select a default file name, it is automatically appended with your chosen separator. For example, if you choose underscore as the separator, combined names appear as Incoming fax_Ultrasound abdomen.

For more information, refer to Configuring patient file names.

eClaims: New counsellor role

Providers with a counsellor role can now use eClaims. When setting up your eClaims integration and adding a practitioner, select Counsellor from the Role list.

For more information, refer to TELUS Health eClaims integration overview.

Role-based access control: Additional permissions for Surgical History

To provide more flexibility and make it easier to create roles with different levels of access, the Surgical History permissions now include List and Update.

Previously, the List permission was granted by the Read permission, and the Update permission was granted by the Create permission. So that no functionality is lost, all users with the Read permission now automatically have the List permission, and users with Create permission automatically have the Update permission.

CHR Connect: Notifying patients when you process a payment using their stored credit card

If your clinic is using CHR Connect, your CHR is configured with a Stripe integration, and you enabled the option to use a patient’s stored credit card, the patient now receives a notification when you charge their card.

When you add a payment for a private or eClaims bill and select Patient payment method on file (Stripe), a New Payment Collected notification is automatically sent to the patient and includes a link to the bill. You can customize this notification from Settings > Notifications > New Payment Collected.

📌Note: If you do not have an existing Stripe integration and want to sign up, contact chrconnectsupport@telus.com.

Fixes

Below is a list of bugs we have identified and fixed in this release. For more information, contact our TELUS Health support team.

  • When creating a billing template with a Payment Issuer that is different from the Default Payment Issuer Setting, the payment issuer no longer reverts back to the default payment issuer.

  • The patient’s Next appointment in the chart header always shows the closest future appointment.

  • You can print the Graph or Table of a lab result from the Lab Results section of the patient’s chart.

  • When you add a group of users (e.g. Practitioners, Staff) to a user group, the changes to the user group are reflected in instant chat.

  • When sending a letter to a patient via email, the patient’s email address is populated instead of the letter recipient’s email.

  • You can once again select a contact from the Healthcare Directory as the cc in a letter.

  • The prompt to enable your camera and microphone appear when you start a virtual visit.

  • Ontario: When the CHR cannot download an invalid HRM report, subsequent reports are still downloaded as expected.

  • For clinics using role-based access control: If you apply a message template that has patient data to which you don’t have access, the text in the template shows “Access denied: User not authorized for this data” instead of, for example, “No family history”.

  • For clinics using location-based access control: You can now archive cover page templates if you have the Templates: Cover Pages permission.

  • For clinics using CHR Connect Pro: A server error no longer appears when opening a patient chart in summary view and the Messages section contains an automatic reply.
