Improvements
User license management in the CHR
📌Notes:
TELUS Health must manually enable this feature following the release. It could take up to 24 hours before you see the functionality.
This new license management system only applies to clinics with standard TELUS Health CHR contracts; custom or Input Health contracts are excluded.
To help streamline and increase transparency of CHR license management, you now need to assign a license to each user in the CHR. This ensures that users’ classification aligns with their role and their product feature usage.
This information is recorded in the users’ profile in the Type and Type Classification fields. A new Service account type is available for administrative purposes, such as shared inboxes or schedules. For practitioners, you must now select a Type Classification that reflects the user’s role and license (standard, clinical trainee or locum). Going forward, you need to fill in this information when inviting new users to your CHR. For more information, refer to Adding user accounts (with license management enabled).
Starting December 3rd, TELUS Health will automatically assign a license type classification to existing users that we were able to map with high confidence. Clinic administrators need to review the licenses that were automatically assigned, and manually update users that could not be matched to a license before January 31, 2026. When you log in to the CHR, you will see a banner at the top of the CHR prompting you to update these unmapped user profiles.
📌Note: These changes will only be reflected on your CHR invoice starting February 1, 2026.
For more information, refer to Migrating to user license management in the CHR.
Deleting task templates
If you have the Advanced Task Management Settings permission enabled, you can now permanently delete task templates that are no longer needed.
To delete a template, go to Settings > Tasks > Templates and click the trash can icon next to the template you want to remove. For more information, refer to Creating task categories and templates.
Two-factor authentication security and account protection enhancements
When you log in to the CHR using two-factor authentication through text message or email, you now see a countdown timer beside the Authentication Code field, showing how long your one-time code remains valid - 5 minutes for text messages and 10 minutes for email. This helps you know exactly when you need to request a new code and prevents old codes from being reused.
The Resend authentication code option is temporarily disabled while the timer counts down and it becomes available again once it expires so you can request a new code if needed.
If your account becomes locked due to multiple failed two-factor authentication attempts, you can now unlock it yourself using a secure link sent to your email, which is valid for 20 minutes.
Adding history question types as follow-ups in Qnaires
You can now add history question types as follow-up questions in response to a patient's answer. For example, you can ask "Have you ever had surgery?" and if the patient answers "Yes," a Surgical History follow-up question appears.
From a single-select or multiple-select question, hover over an answer option and select History. Refer to Adding follow-up questions to patient responses and Adding history question types to Qnaires for more information.
Enhanced privacy controls for schedule exports in Google Calendar format
Since appointment notes can contain protected health information, when you export schedules in Google Calendar format, by default appointment notes are no longer included in the export. You can however add them if needed.
To include appointment notes, in the Export Data window, select Export as Google Calendar Format (except cancelled). A new checkbox labeled Include appointment notes in description (may contain PHI) appears. Select it to add the notes to your export.
Refer to Exporting data from the CHR for more information.
TELUS Health Connect: Requiring patients to save their payment method
You can now make it mandatory for patients to save a payment method to their profile during the Connect registration process. If the setting is disabled, patients are still prompted to add a payment method but can choose to skip this step and add it later. This applies to both new patients registering and existing patients linking their account to your clinic for the first time. Patients who have already linked their Connect account are not affected.
To enable this setting, go to your CHR Connect App settings and, under Payment Method on File, select Require patients to include a payment method during registration. By default, this setting is disabled. For more information, refer to TELUS CHR Connect Settings.
Improved Stripe agreement information display
When your clinic integrates with Stripe for private billing, the agreement document is now attached for easy reference. You can see who signed it, the date it was signed, and the agreement version. This information is displayed under Settings > Billing > Private Billing Providers, making it easier to track when your Stripe integration was established and by whom.
📌 Note: This only applies to clinics who signed the agreement after November 16, 2025.
Additionally, if you don't have permission to connect Stripe for your clinic, you'll now see a message directing you to contact your authorised purchaser to set up the Stripe connection.
Improved Stripe payment processing
When you collect payment from patients via Online Payment (Stripe), Terminal Payment (Stripe), or Patient payment method on file (Stripe), the transactions now record more reliably in the History section of the Continue payment window in the patient’s chart.
The system now automatically tracks and retries failed payment recordings up to three times, ensuring payments consistently appear and outstanding bills are properly marked as paid.
AI-powered inbox: Enhanced owner matching
📌Note: TELUS Health must manually enable this feature following the release. It could take up to 24 hours before you see the functionality.
For clinics using the CHR AI-powered inbox, the list of suggested matches for the Owner of a document takes into account the user’s first and last name recorded in their profile, rather than just the Display Name. Potential matches are ordered based on a confidence rating. This boosts accuracy and minimizes the need to select an owner manually.
AI-powered writing tools: Creating and refining encounter notes and letters
📌Notes:
TELUS Health must manually enable this feature following the release. To ensure a smooth transition, this feature will gradually be made available over the next several weeks.
There is a monthly fee for CHR AI-powered features based on usage. Contact the TELUS Health Sales team for more information (refer to Contact us).
The new AI-powered writing tools help you quickly generate, refine, and structure your encounter notes and letters without leaving your workflow.
They can help you with tasks like expanding or summarizing content, converting between paragraph and point form, improving grammar and tone, translating between English and French, and generating common letter types from encounter information.
You can review, modify, copy, or discard any AI-generated content to ensure it meets your professional standards before finalizing.
Within encounter and letter text fields, click the AI icon in the formatting toolbar to access options including Make shorter, Make longer, Make point form, Fix spelling & grammar, Change tone, and Translate.
For letters created from encounters, you can use Generate to automatically create common letter types such as sick notes, referral letters, or consultation reports based on your encounter information.
For more information, refer to CHR AI-powered: Writing encounters and letters using AI tools.
Fixes
In Settings > Exports, when exporting schedules in Google Calendar format without selecting a specific Primary Practitioner, the exported file now contains all appointment data as expected. The appointments included are based on their scheduled date within your selected date range rather than their created date.
When viewing the Log Details of imported prescriptions, the signed date now displays correctly instead of showing the import date.
When you collect health history information via a Qnaire linked to an eReferral, Health Profile entries are now created as expected.
When configuring form templates to autofill lab results, in the Set Lab Variable window, when you click Select One…, you can select a lab from the list of lab results that appears.
When editing a Task, you can set the Start By and Due Date to the same past or future date without receiving a validation error.
When setting a Custom access restriction for a patient chart or encounter, deactivated users who were previously part of a group no longer display in the group list.
New user email invitation links now display a clear error message when they are invalid or expired, instead of showing a system error. Previously, some invitation links would result in an error when clicked, preventing new users from completing their account setup.
When viewing an encounter, the Upcoming appointments window now displays correctly and no longer hides behind the encounter window.
When you select an ordering or service provider in the New Referral window, as well as in other areas of the CHR, the avatar of the provider now displays correctly.
When you export or print a patient chart, archived injections no longer appear in the Injections section.
In the New Referral window, in the Referral Data section when you add data, the information now appears in the section immediately after clicking Save, instead of appearing blank until you save, close and reopen the referral.
In Contacts, when searching for facilities, search results now prioritize facilities that start with the search term, followed by facilities containing the search term elsewhere in the name.
When creating a letter using a template with Preferred Contacts, in the Recipient field when you click Select a Recipient, the configured preferred contacts appear in the search window.
For clinics using role-based access control, when using message templates with variables, users without permission to access specific patient data (such as medications, lab results, or medical history) now consistently see a clear "Access denied: User not authorized for this data" message.
For clinics using role-based access control, when configuring user roles and a confirmation window appears, permissions now display the correct prefix of either Feature Permissions or Settings Permissions.
For clinics using role-based access control and who have French enabled, in Settings > Account information > Roles, the Breaking Glass Permissions role name is now translated in French.
Alberta: For clinics using role-based access control and who have Alberta Health Community Information Integration (CII) & Central Patient Attachment Registry (CPAR) enabled, when you create a new patient, you can use Save and validate without getting a “Permission denied” error.
📌 Note: New CHR versions are released on a regular bi-weekly schedule. However, there are times where a fix is released prior to the next scheduled release. These off-schedule release fixes are documented in the separate off-schedule release notes.
