Patients can view and pay their outstanding bills directly from the patient portal.

To allow patients to pay bills from the patient portal, you must:

  1. Set up the Stripe integration. See Configuring Stripe in the CHR.

  2. Enable Portal Billing. See Enabling the patient portal.

Once this has been configured, the patient can view their outstanding private billing items and make payment accordingly. See Making a credit card payment using the patient portal (for patients).

You can see when a patient has made payment.


  1. From a patient chart, click Start/ Open > Private Billing.

  2. In the All Payments section, click View Details for a completed bill.

    The Continue Payment window appears and you can view payments made next to Paid and in the History section.

  3. Click Close when you are finished.
